Image Description: The fall is a time when all the oak trees lose their leaves. During this time, the ground is damp from the dewy mornings, and it turns into a great breeding ground for mushrooms of all shapes and sizes. These strange yellow and reddish mushrooms are growing amongst fallen oak leaves. Mushrooms seemingly appear to grow overnight; that is because they can do a lot of their developing under the ground, before inflating themselves with water and popping up out of the soil surface. Many mushrooms are edible, but many are not; it is not wise to eat random mushrooms that are unidentified. Adding to mushroom’s historic value, before synthetic textile dyes were invented, most dyes were created from the chromophores of fungi.
