Image Description: The bright red cap and all those cloudy white bumps are what make the fly agaric the most identifiable mushrooms in popular culture. There are several subspecies that do look quite different, but they will usually have the same distinctive white bumps on their caps; this one has them in an irregular array across its red cap, with a prominent “bald†path near the center.. While sometimes eaten as food, the fly agaric is best known for its psychoactive agents, muscimol and ibotenic acid, though they are also poisonous. One cap of these mushroom could be fatal to an average adult.
