The rose flower comes in many sizes and shapes, in colors that go from the purest white, to sunny yellows and deep blood reds; they also range in size from compact, miniature roses, to climbers that can reach a whopping seven meters in height. Most species of roses are native to Asia, with a few coming from Europe, North America, and northwest Africa. Roses are best known as ornamental plants grown for their pretty petals outside in the garden. The petals have been also used for commercial perfumery and commercial cut flower crops. Roses also have minor medicinal uses; rose hips are occasionally made into jams and jellies or are brewed for tea, because of their vitamin C content.
