Image Description: A common bird readily found on beaches around the world, this photograph shows us a seagull as it roams the rocky ocean shore, most certainly with its eyes scanning the ground, water, and horizon for things to eat as it goes. The bird aside, this photograph is a lesson in low-key contrasts; the white of the gull’s fore feathers reflects sunlight sharply, while the grey that unfolds down its back melts into the grey pebbles beneath its feet quite nicely. The only sharp splashes of color are found in the gull’s feet and beak, and in a smattering of green algae that has developed in a few areas of the rocky terrain.
