Image Description: Forcing our eyes to digest a wide array of stimulating imagery, this photograph gives us a close-up look at a scalare fish. More commonly known as the angelfish, the scalare is a member of the Pterophyllum species of freshwater fish, native to the Amazon, Essequibo, and Orinoco rivers of South America. Though the picture’s angle and the multicolored foliage make it difficult to tell whether or not this particular fish is in the wild, or in an aquarium, there are two hints that indicate the latter, most notably the fact that there are millions of angelfish to be found in captivity around the world; they’re very popular with aquarium enthusiastsl. Secondly, some of the foliage gives a distinctly manufactured look where the light reflects off of it, indicating that we’re potentially looking at plastic as opposed to plants.
