Image Description: Around the world, it is generally recognized that people can choose to wear wedding and engagement rings on whichever hand they prefer, or even wearing the engagement ring and wedding band on separate hands. It is usually either a matter of personal or cultural preference. When a Jewish couple get married, the ring is placed on the right hand at the ceremony, but later will be worn on the left hand. Also, Eastern Europeans and Orthodox Christians wear their wedding bands on their right hands. Muslims usually wear theirs on the right hand, but there is no set rule on placement' they are not, however, allowed to have the ring made out of gold, though silver or platinum is fine. In Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Iran, Brazil, Sweden, Chile, Slovenia, France, and Iran, the wedding band is almost always worn on the left hand.
