Image Description: The size of this bug would startle anyone who sees it in their house! But rest assured it does not bother biting humans, and it will not infest houseplants. This leaf-footed bug gets its name because it has a flattened leaf-like flare on the lower part of its back legs. These guys will invade our houses and apartments in the late summer and early fall, slowly strolling around windows and walls looking for a warm crevice to spend their winter. The best thing to do with this nuisance is to capture them and toss them back outside, but be warned: these leaf-footed bugs are members of the stink bug family and, if you hold them too long or if you crush them, they will emit a very foul odor.
