Image Description: This odd picture of a man and a monkey is made even more unusual because they are wearing matching shirts. This man almost seems to be talking to a very interested monkey about his cigarette. The idea of monkeys as pets is thought to have started when the first British explorers went into Africa; they would bring young monkeys back to their ships for entertainment. Given how like us our primate cousins are, this quickly lead to a sort of camaraderie, though monkeys kept in captivity are often abused and otherwise treated unfavorably by their owners. Hoping this monkey won’t be allowed to indulge in his friend’s cigarette, we can only assume that these two are the best of friends.
