Camel thorn - Free image for blogs

image name

Image Description: This dangerous looking plant is the Acacia erioloba, most commonly referred to as the Camel Thorn. While the second part of its name has been given for obvious reasons, you may be wondering why it is called a “Camel” Thorn in particular? The word “camel” is used because the plant is most at home is particularly dry terrains, making its home, for the most part, in the drier regions of South Africa; much like a camel, it thrives in the dust, heat, and aridity of the desert - or despite it, at least. Background aside, you can be sure that you’ll not want to attempt to pluck one of these stems for a loved one if you do come across one!
